Questions parents ask us

Secondary 1 to 4 (G1, G2 and G3 Math, IP and IGCSE), JC 1 and 2 (H1 and H2 Math), and IB Year 5 and 6 (Math AA and AI, at SL and HL).
-
Students are taught individually within a group. While the teacher works through a problem with one student, the others work on their own assigned material, so nobody waits and nobody is rushed. Every doubt is cleared and every mistake is fixed on the spot. During the school term we follow each student’s own school syllabus, so lessons line up with their tests.
-
Each lesson is 2 hours, once a week, for 52 lessons a year. Classes continue through the June and November holidays, and December’s lessons are brought forward into November before the centre closes for the year-end break.
Mad4Math is closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Chinese New Year and any public holiday that falls in the November–December school holidays. On all other public holidays we are open, and lessons are rescheduled to the morning, at either 9:00 am or 11:00 am.
-
New students start with a 4-lesson introductory package, attended in person at the centre. Over those four lessons we look at your child’s attitude, speed, accuracy and aptitude, then send you a written report on WhatsApp: where your child stands, what is holding them back, and what you can realistically expect. We don’t offer single trial lessons, and the introductory package isn’t available in the 6 weeks before a major Math exam.
-
Both. After the introductory lessons, students can attend in person or join the same class live on Zoom. Many choose online on busy weeks to save travelling time.
-
Let us know at least 12 hours before the lesson and we’ll arrange a make-up within 2 weeks. Last-minute absences are made up only with a medical certificate, on compassionate grounds, or for sports clashes agreed with us beforehand.
-
Yes. Every Secondary student has a private Google Drive folder. Marked worksheets are scanned and added after each lesson, and only your family and our teachers can see it. For JC and IB students, just ask and we’ll add you to their folder.
-
All notes and worksheets are provided, written in-house and kept up to date with the latest MOE, Cambridge and IB syllabuses. We’re also happy to go through school work your child is stuck on.
-
Fees are invoiced by quarter with a monthly breakdown, and can be paid quarterly or monthly by bank transfer or PayNow. WhatsApp us for the current fees for your child’s level.
